General Data Protection Regulations 2018 (GDPR) GDPR replaces the 1998 Data Protection Act to ensure your personal and sensitive, confidential data is kept private and held securely. The regulations protect your rights as a consumer of a service or product that might involve your identifiable data, e.g. your name and address or whether you have a specific condition.
What information is recorded? During our first session, I will gather a short personal history and a small amount of medical information and contact details. Your contact details will only be used with your explicit consent. I may contact your GP, or other relevent authorities, if I believe you are at significant risk of harm, but I will endeavour to gain your consent first. Brief session notes may also be recorded after each of our sessions.
Storing Information
Any hardcopy documents/notes are held in a locked cabinet.
Informaiton sent via email or text all require usernames and passwords in order to keep information confidential.
Client paper records are kept for 6 years and are shredded after this time. Any information kept electonicaly will be deleted one month after sessions have ended.
If you would like any of this information shredded/deleted earlier then this, you have the right to request this in writing.
